A Jackson Getaway

Work has been time consuming and the latest news from our growing Sweet family has been occupying much of our time these last few months. It was time for Kaylee and I to get out as a couple for the weekend!

We chose to spend our nights at the Elk Refuge Inn which borders the expansive elk refuge north of the town of Jackson. We absolutely plan on staying at this Inn again! You can check out their webpage to see room options and photos. We chose to go with a second floor room as the patio/double glass door option made for excellent views of the herds of elk currently wintering in the fields across the highway. As far as pricing, this Inn is affordable and well worth what you get!

Kaylee and I explored the town, window shopped, and had an excellent late-breakfast at the Bunnery Bakery. We noticed a temporary ice rink set up in the middle of the town square (famous for its elk antler archways). That's the first we had seen a rink there. We hope to try it next time! Kaylee and I also drove to the Tetons looking specifically for my favorite animal: moose! We were not disappointed as we found 7 moose including a mother and her baby. 80% of the time I visit the Tetons I have found moose at the roundabout on the south end of the park, or along the road east towards Kelly, WY. Yesterday was no different. Also making an appearance this weekend, were several herds of bison, a couple dozen deer, and some very curious and brave (or rather, stubborn) crows. The weather broke over the mountains yesterday afternoon, leading to excellent views of the peaks. This morning, there wasn't a cloud in the sky and temps sat around -10 degrees F before gradually warming up into the single digits.

I was really missing the mountains lately, and Kaylee has felt cooped up this winter. The vast, open skies, and rugged skyline of the Tetons were just what the doctor ordered for us. Moving forward, our life appears to be getting rather busy, but we look forward to many more adventures in the seasons ahead! 'Till next time, safe travels, and happy new year!
